America the beautiful

It's been an incredible July so far!  We headed down to northern California to visit family and spend some time at my parent's cabin.  My sister and family were there, in addition to my brother and family.  It was a true "clam bake" with 17 of us!  What I thought was the biggest news of the trip was my sister's kids potty training Cole.  No accidents to date!  Look at my cool underwear.  His waistbands need a little adjusting now.

What turned out to be the big 4th of July news was my mom surprised us all and became a U.S. citizen!!!  Wow!  I did not see that coming.  She is thrilled and can officially vote in our country for the first time.

Here are some fun pictures from the trip.  The Chester, CA parade.

She needs her beauty rest - parades are exhausting!

3 Months Tomorrow...

Time flies when you're having fun!  Baby Kate will be 3 months old tomorrow and here's a little update.

She's such a treat.  She's on a great little routine right now - eats about every 2 1/2 hours during the day and sleeps for 12 hours at night, with one feeding.  So she isn't the only one who is happy around here - I'm quite content getting my sleep!  I'm not quite sure what her stats are - she was 10lbs, 5oz at her 2 month check up.  So she's probably about 12.5 lbs about now and still really long.  She doesn't have much meat on her bones, but she keeps outgrowing her clothes in the arms and legs.  She definitely has my chin and lips, but has Craig's beautiful coloring and has kept her brown hair (at this point, Cole's hair was growing in blond).  Her eyes are a dark blue right now...color still to be determined I guess.

In the last few weeks, she has really started to enjoy laying on the floor, on her activity mat.  She likes to tug on the toys and sometimes ends up moving herself off the mat onto the floor.  She is smiling, laughing, cooing and honestly squeeling with delight.  There are some very special smiles that Daddy can seem to get out of her.  Cole is such a GREAT big brother.  She is the first thing he asks about after he wakes up (well, I guess warm milky is the first thing).  He tells her "it's okay Kate", when she cries and asks her all the time to watch him hit golf balls.  "Did you see that one Kate?"

We are really enjoying life as a family of four.  I have found a way to get around with both of them - thanks to Cole being a good listener and helping out.  Still no luck getting him out of diapers, but the bathroom is now his - decked out with a Lightning McQueen potty seat, step stool, etc.  I have bought every underwear out there - Buzz Lightyear, Lightning McQueen, Thomas, you name it.  This week he has started showing interest...stay tuned!  He is stubborn (like his mom) and does things on his own time...doesn't like to be told what to do.  Neither do I Cole!  Here are some pics from the last few weeks.

Here I am with my friend Sydney.  No pressure, but we're sure to be best buds.

In her crib...sucking on her middle fingers like I did when I was this age.  Funny.

And here's the big boy in the house!  Wow, is he heavy these days - getting tall and lean.  This was taken at the Museum of Flight.

Cole at the same age for comparison.  I think they definitely look like siblings, but her features are darker.

We need a King...

a King-sized bed.  Notice Cole's fingers looped through his kiki (blankie).  He sleeps like this every night, but usually in his own bed :-).

Sport du jour

This week's favorite sport is golf!  Cole is actually getting quite good so we have been to the driving range a few times.  Craig bought him an elecric putter so he can practice indoors and the ball gets returned to him.

Happy Easter

Despite my best attempts to get a family Easter picture with our matching color scheme and fancy dress for Kate, it did not happen!  Cole wasn't feeling himself - had a little stomach bug.  However, we had a great weekend, with Nana ReRe and Grampa Roger with us, and here are a few fun moments.

My favorite candy - lollipops!

Kate continues to be an easy baby!  She is so much fun and is smiling a lot.  She gets mom up twice a night, but goes right back to sleep so that's appreciated!  I'm tired of saying "I'm tired" but that's part of the deal!  I see sun outside my window so should probably go enjoy it!

Our Kids - Plural!

Everything has been going well for us so far with the addition of Kate.  She's so sweet and mellow - it's hard to believe.  She had her first doctor's appt today and is back at her birth weight so that's nice.  She has the thinnest little legs and ankles.  We can't seem to get any socks to stay on her feet.  She loves to be wrapped in the warmest blankets we have and to the unhappiness of my pediatrician, loves to sleep at night and does not want to be bothered with food!

Seems to be a lot of napping going on over here.  Check this out from today - both Cole and Kate napping together on the couches.
